The Pedestal Fan Buying Guide

The good old pedestal fan is the ‘unsung’ hero in our home. It does its work, stands alone in the corner, without complaining and ensures you are cool enough during the warm Summer time. The appliance itself has undergone a great deal of upgrades over time. It is no longer an ugly bulk of metal ‘bobbing around’ throwing cool air. Today we have some of the best pedestal fans in India 2023  to choose from, and the choices are endless. So, how can you make the right choice when trying to buy a pedestal fan for yourself? Here is a buying guide to help you:

The Blade Sweep:

This is one of the most important aspects when buying a Pedestal fan. The Blade sweep is the circular area that the blades of the fan cover when rotating. This defines the cooling capacity of the fan and hence its efficiency. The Blade sweep should be in the range of 400mm to 450 mm.

The Noise:

These can get noisy and hence cause a lot more ruckus than offering comfort. It is therefore advisable to ensure that the machine you are buying offers silent operation.

Removable Grill:

This one feature can make a lot of difference, as you might want to get some serious cleaning up to do once in a while. For this, it helps if you can completely remove the grill from the top to clean the blades and the insides of the machine. This is important as it ensures proper air delivery.

The Motion Type:

There are three different types of motions that the pedestal fan offers: fixed, rotating, and OScillating. Here, the fixed motion has the head of the fan at one position only, the Rotating Motion is when the head of the fan rotates after a fixed time, and the Oscillating motion is the to-and-fro motion of the fan.

The Fan speed:

This is measured in RPM or Rotations Per Minute and is the speed of the fan when in operation. So, the higher the RPM, the better the cooling.

The Air Delivery:

Now this is perhaps the most important factor of all, as it is directly related to the cooling capacity of the fan. The Air Delivery is measured in CMM or Cubic Meters per Minute. The higher the CMM better is the cooling.

Conclusion

So, be it the best ceiling fan in India under 1500 or any other model, be sure to refer to a buying guide.
